Congratulations to Barrow County Professional Fire Fighters (IAFF L-4780) President Rob Aldred for his Firefighter of the Year award from the Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioners Office. Rob joined Barrow County Emergency Services 6 years ago and has used his time in the department to help make it a great department. He improved their grant writing process and has had a part in helping Barrow County receive hundreds of thousands of dollars. The grants are from various organizations such as AFG, Firehouse Subs Foundation and many others.

Rob is a paramedic with Barrow County and is now part of the Georgia Search and Rescue Team (GSAR). He recently took the GSAR/FEMA Medical Specialist Course. He also teaches Fire and Life Safety Education to Barrow County residents and takes the time to explain the topics being taught and how the resident can best utilize the information. He also participated in an ambulance orientation class for elementary students and created a video for the students to meet the firefighters that work on the ambulance so the children would not be afraid of them.
